Job Description

The Role:

You will be expected to drive the business forward in terms of satisfying customers and managing operations. You will be responsible for both the management of the branch fitting crews and Administration teams.

Main Duties / Responsibilities:

Operational Responsibilities:
• Maintaining fitters at required levels to meet operations requirements.
• Recruiting, and discipline for fitters including verbal warnings, written warnings, dismissals and grievance procedures
• Maintaining enthusiasm and quality standards within fitters
• Ensure fitters wear company clothing and necessary health and safety clothing and equipment
• Ensure new fitters receive correct training induction and all necessary initial paperwork
• Ensure fitters receive appropriate training and are aware of the Health and Safety requirements
• Ensure fitters complete and return criminal record application forms and related documents
• Ensure fitters achieve necessary quality and production targets
• Ensure adequate records on fitters are maintained including holidays, absence and time keeping
• Ensure all fitters are aware of customer care procedures in case of accidents or damage
• Ensure fitters are aware of correct communication procedures and in particular for dropped jobs, site difficulties, absenteeism etc
• Ensure fitters complete their paperwork correctly including job sheets, time sheets and operator licence requirements
• Ensure weekly Mark Insulations reports, quality reports are completed as required
• Attend all necessary meetings

Van and Equipment Responsibilities
• Ensure full checklist of fitters equipment is available for each van
• Ensure equipment is checked at least once a week to ensure it is all accountable for and is in good working order
• Ensure vans are checked once a week to include general cleanliness, working order and damage
• Ensure vans comply where necessary to all operator licence and legal requirements and fitters carry out daily checks and records
• Ensure we have sufficient equipment and that it is maintained

Stores and Yard Responsibilities
• Opening and closing of stores at the depot and control of issuing stock
• Ensure stores are kept in a tidy organised state and that any ditches are cleared and waste
Disposal managed
• Report any maintenance or damaged items
• Ensure all security arrangements for the stores and yard are maintained

Stock Responsibilities
• Ensure all necessary stocks are purchased for regular stock items
• Awareness of buffer stock and order time periods for regular stock
• Purchase of special items for contracts in accordance with bill of quantities and max prices
• Ensure company purchase order process is followed when purchasing items

Health and Safety Responsibilities
• Ensure all operators and operations staff are aware of health and safety requirements
• Ensure all ladders and equipment are properly checked
• Ensure all fitters and staff have necessary protective clothing and that all such items are accounted for and used
Quality Control Responsibilities
• Ensure all operations complaints are recorded, followed up, fully investigated and detailed for weekly meetings in line with current company procedures
• Ensure Supervisors carry out necessary pre and post installation and site visits and that they are fully recorded
• Maintain records on quality and complaints in order to obtain trends by fitters, type of complaints etc
• Maintain full management control over Supervisors

Training Responsibilities
• Ensure all new fitters receive adequate training and that full training records are maintained
• Ensure further training to be given to existing fitters where deemed necessary
• Ensure sufficient driver training given before new operatives are allowed to drive company vehicles
• Ensure constant monitoring of fitters to ensure they are fully trained
• Liaise with Group Training Manager in respect of additional training, including gas courses, asbestos awareness, BBA & system designer courses
• In conjunction with Group Training Manager ensure new requirements for our work are built into training manuals

Personnel Responsibilities
• Take full accountability for the Administration Team based within the Depot
• Ensure that all paperwork is completed in line with company procedures
• Lead, motivate and train Administration Team & Fitting Staff
• Deal with employment relations issues, in conjunction with HR Department and in line with statutory requirements

And any other reasonable duties commensurate with the post, which may be allocated from time to time.

e.g. previous experience required to do the job
Proven experience of managing a business unit

Previous experience of dealing with the general public and delivering service that exceeds expectation

Proven experience on leading, managing, motivating and developing a diverse team
Construction/Insulation/Building
Industry Knowledge and understanding

Dealing with customer & employment issues

Prior experience of having a high level of autonomy
Education & Qualification
e.g. academic or professional qualifications
Educated to a minimum of GCSE/O Level standard

Qualified by Previous Experience
Business Management Qualification

H&S – IOSH/NEBOSH
Skills/Abilities
e.g. analytical skills, computer skills
Computer literate and fully conversant in the use of
Microsoft Office
