Job Description

The Role:

Installing Cavity Wall and Loft insulation into domestic/commercial properties.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

Cavity Specific:
• Drill holes to specified drill pattern (internally if new build property) and through mortar joints externally on existing occupied properties, working off ladders or other access equipment
• Fill hopper (observing safety regulations) with compressed packs of mineral fibre
• Blow’ shredded mineral fibre through hose and nozzle, into pre-drilled holes to achieve a full and complete fill of the cavity
• Re-point drilled holes on exterior of property to match original mortar as closely as possible
• To make sure work area is cleared, brick dust is cleaned off windowsills, pathways are swept and debris and packaging is removed from site and disposed of correctly, prior to the completion of all paperwork and before leaving site
• To attend and pass ACOPs and CSCS training/tests as required, in order to carry-out the above duties

Loft Specific:
• Load roof space with the required amount of insulation rolls in readiness to insulate loft
• Access lofts with ladders and light provided by the company, first placing dust sheets and taking extra care not to cause unnecessary disturbance, debris or damage
• Correctly fit loft insulation to the standard set by the company
• Lag pipes and insulate loft hatch, tank, tank lid etc as required to the standard set by the company
• Correctly fit draught proofing insulation material to all specified areas to the meet the relevant specification
• Make sure work area is cleared (including any excess material) and debris and packaging is removed from site and disposed of correctly, prior to the completion of all paperwork and before leaving site

Applicable to Both Roles
• Load insulation material on to company owned vehicle and to drive to and from various sites to carry out insulation works
• Complete all relevant paperwork correctly and in a legible manner and return it to the Planning Co-ordinator on a daily basis
• Correctly install and complete tachographs (if in charge of a 7.5 ton vehicle) and hand them in on a weekly basis
• Adhere to any reasonable work instructions given, either verbally or on work sheet by Mark Group nominated employees or agent
• Flexible approach to working hours
• Ensure that all administration duties are carried out in line with company procedures
• Ensure that a professional and courteous approach is maintained at all time
• Strictly adhere to all Health and Safety procedures and ensure that the working environment is practical for both yourself and others
• Treat all clients of Mark Group with courtesy and their property with due care and attention
• Attend relevant training courses and briefings as and when requested by the Company
• And any other reasonable duties commensurate with the post, which may be allocated from time to time

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

• To be responsible for ensuring that all work activities are carried out according to Company Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.

• To be responsible for ensuring that all site safety rules are adhered to. To be responsible for ensuring that all personnel protective equipment is worn and used at all times whilst working on site.

• To be responsible for ensuring that all work equipment and any equipment provided for health & safety purposes is worn and used correctly at all times and in accordance with Company safe working practices.

• To be responsible for daily checks being carried out on work equipment and any equipment provided for health & safety purposes for signs of obvious defects e.g. lights, ladders and kneeling boards. Ensuring that the equipment is safe to use and poses no significant risk to health & safety. To be responsible for reporting any defects, damage or loss to any work equipment or any equipment provided for health & safety purposes to the Service Delivery Manager or Field Manager.

• To be responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle in your charge and to carry out daily maintenance checks e.g. oil, water, lights etc. To be responsible for the reporting of defects or damage to the vehicle to the Transport Manager. To be responsible for driving the vehicle in your charge in a safe and courteous manner at all times.

• To ensure that Company issued uniform is worn at all times during working hours.
 

 

 

Requirements

Previous experience/knowledge of the construction/building industry
Education & Qualification
e.g. academic or professional qualifications
3 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, including English ACOPS accredited

Level 2/3 NVQ in Customer Service, Customer Care or equivalent

Full and current driving licence

Class ‘C1’ Licence

Health & Safety Qualification
Skills/Abilities
e.g. analytical skills, computer skills
Ability to communicate articulately with customers and colleagues at all levels

Must be numerate & literate

Practical

Ability to work on own initiative

This is a physical job that requires you to work outside in all weathers. You'll need a head for heights as working up ladders is a fundamental part of the job, you must also be able to work in confined spaces (lofts).

Is required to undergo a Criminal Reference Check & a DVLA check
