7,000 Warmer Homes in Wandsworth
Friday 10 June 2011
In its single largest domestic installation project to date, energy saving specialist Mark Group has completed a multi million pound cavity wall insulation programme for over 7,000 dwellings in the London Borough of Wandsworth.
The home insulation contract was awarded to Mark Group in early 2010, following its partnership collaboration with the London Borough. The contract was paid for in part by £8.3million funding, which was secured as the highest single allocation through the Homes and Communities Agency’s £30million SHESP (Social Housing Energy Saving Partnership) programme.
Work began in Wandsworth in March 2010 and over the 12 months to follow, Mark Group technicians installed cavity wall insulation into a mix of three-storey and above apartment buildings, housing between them 7,357 individual residences.
Kevin Downes, Mark Group Business Development Manager, said: “We have worked with the London Borough of Wandsworth for a number of years and I believe it was the success of our partnership which helped us to secure the substantial funding for this project. Delivering an insulation programme for 7,000 homes is a challenge, but thanks to the dedication and skill of the team involved and the support of Wandsworth, we delivered the work on time, on budget and to our client’s satisfaction.”
Throughout the installation programme, work schedules were communicated with the Council, helping to keep residents up to speed on planned activity. Now that works are complete, residents will be able to enjoy living in warmer, more energy efficient homes and look forward to saving money on their heating bills.
