Mark Group ACTs ON CO2
Wednesday 17 March 2010
Mark Group, the leading domestic energy savings company has partnered with the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) as the first insulation and renewables installer to support its high profile ACT ON CO2 campaign.
The consumer-facing campaign, which launched in 2007, has recently focussed heavily on home insulation – something which Mark Group has championed for the past 35 years. So with ACT ON CO2‘s powerful energy-saving message, and Mark Group’s installation capabilities, it’s the perfect partnership for helping consumers reduce their CO2 emissions.
Bill Rumble, Mark Group Commercial Director, said: “We have seen a dramatic increase in the number of cavity wall and loft insulation enquiries over the past three years, something which campaigns like ACT ON CO2 will have no doubt helped to generate.
“The Government has tough environmental targets to meet and partnership working is crucial to their achievement. The ACT ON CO2 campaign has taken a fresh, creative approach designed to help consumers in England make small changes in their life – something we are keen to support and put our national service offering behind.”
ACT ON CO2 provides key consumer advice on energy-saving measures:
- It pays to insulate
A quarter of a property’s heat can be lost through a poorly insulated loft. Walls can be even worse, losing a third if they aren’t up to scratch. That’s a lot of wasted energy, unnecessary CO2 emissions, and lots of money too. Insulating a home properly will cut heating bills allowing homeowners to enjoy a warmer home for less and do their bit for the planet
- Loft insulation
Fewer than one in ten homes have the recommended amount of loft insulation. Consumer can Check with a ruler to make sure it is at least 270mm thick. If it isn’t, heating bills could be cut for years to come by adding more
- Cavity wall insulation
Most houses built after 1920 have cavity walls. Insulating these can save around £115 a year. A skilled installer will need to carry out the work, but offers are available.* For some, it’s absolutely free. It’s simple, quick and makes no mess in the home as the work is done outside
- Solid wall insulation
Solid walls lose even more heat than cavity walls. Homeowners can reduce this by insulating them on the inside (using insulating plasterboard technologies), or on the outside (with decorative weather-proof insulating treatments). A skilled installer has to carry out the work – but could save up to £400 a year.
