Mark Group to enter Dragon’s Den with Kevin McCloud
Friday 02 July 2010
Star of Channel 4’s Grand Designs, Kevin McCloud, will be putting Mark Group’s energy-saving expertise to the test next week as the Leicester-based business takes part in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style presentation.
Mark Group has been invited by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) to take part in the event at Civil Service Live in London next Thursday (8th July) to an audience of around 300 onlookers.
In an event entitled ‘What our homes might look like in the future’, Mark Group will line up alongside three other energy-saving specialists, Knauf Insulation, BEAMA and Mitsubishi, to deliver its pitch on solar electricity for the homeowner. Following a four minute presentation, questions will be posed by Kevin McCloud, David Strong, Chair of Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes and Professor David MacKay, Chief Scientific Advisor, DECC, before the floor is opened for the audience to quiz the demonstrators.
Hoping to win the support of the panellists Mark Group Commercial Director, Bill Rumble, is looking forward to the opportunity to emphasis the benefits of renewable technology and why the nation should make energy-saving a top priority. He said: “It is an honour to be invited to take part in this event and a fantastic opportunity to not only discuss energy-saving possibilities with the highly-respected panellists, but also to talk to an audience of hundreds of civil servants about their views on climate change.
“I will be representing Mark Group, joining our industry partners on the stage to collectively deliver a message about taking a ‘whole house approach’ to energy efficiency. This is something which Mark Group believes without doubt, should be at the forefront of shaping how our homes might look in the future.”
Civil Service Live is the largest gathering of civil servants in the UK. This year’s event at London’s Olympia between 6th and 8th July is expected to host nearly 10,000 people and feature cabinet-level speakers.
