England rugby star joins forces with leading energy saving installer to kick CO2 emissions into touch
Monday 28 September 2009
The former world cup winner of England’s triumphant 2003 rugby squad is to take up a new part time post as Mark Group’s Partnership Director working with blue chip organisations to reduce carbon emissions from their own buildings. He will develop propositions for company’s customers and their employees aimed at reducing the organisation’s overall carbon footprint.
Martin Corry, former Leicester club captain, said: “I am looking forward to starting this next chapter of my life. The energy efficiency sector is rapidly expanding and I am relishing the opportunity to work in such a challenging market.
“The environment and energy efficiency is on everyone’s agenda now and being part of that process in educating businesses about ways in which they can reduce their carbon footprint offers a really exciting challenge.”
Mr Corry is looking forward to calling on the leadership skills he honed as Leicester’s club captain and sees a number of parallels in his new role with his former life as Leicester Tigers leader.
He said: “As club captain one of the most essential elements of my role was to ensure everyone functioned well as a unit. The collective function was always more important than the individual function and carrying that ideal into my new role should ensure that I enjoy as much success in my new business career as in my past rugby career.”
Since being founded in 1974, the Mark Group has rapidly expanded to become the UK’s largest insulation and renewables installer, employing 500 people in Leicestershire alone and has 14 distribution centres across the UK.
The Mark Group are the UK’s largest provider of ‘whole house’ solutions to energy efficiency offering a full range of energy efficiency technologies including Solar Electricity, Solar Hot Water, Cavity Wall Insulation, Loft Insulation, External Wall Insulation, Heat Pumps and Wind Turbines.
