Mark Group, the leading installer of domestic energy-saving solutions, has opened new headquarters in North America. The news means the Leicester-based company is now operating out of three continents worldwide, after opening a base in Sydney, Australia in 2009.

Working out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the established energy-efficiency expert will deliver a national energy-saving programme, tailored specifically to the US homeowner market. The new operation is expected to create in the region of 300 sustainable, skilled jobs, all of which will be filled from within the Pennsylvania community.

Mark Group’s new headquarters were officially opened at a press conference on Friday 22nd October, attended by Pennsylvania State Governor, Edward Rendell, Philadelphia City Mayor, Michael Nutter, Mark Group’s US CEO, Jeff Bartos and Mark Group’s Leicester-based President of International Operations, Chris Brazendale. Chris said: “Mark Group is an established, successful and entrepreneurial installer of energy-saving solutions. We successfully launched in Australia last year and identified a further opportunity for growth in North America.

“The market for home insulation in the US is relatively young, compared to that of the UK, but Philadelphia is a city which is embracing ‘green’ technologies and has been extremely supportive of our investment in the region.”

Mark Group’s philosophy in the UK is to take a ‘whole house’ approach to energy-saving, with the bulk of its current business in cavity wall and loft insulation. In the US, a similar approach will be taken, but offering draught-proofing (known as air-sealing), wall and attic insulation, as well as renewable technology options.

“As a Group, over the past 35 years we have improved the energy-efficiency of more than two million homes and know we have a strong business model to roll out State-side,” Chris continued. “Our facility in Philadelphia is now set up and ready to go and we are looking forward to a successful future.”

Mark Group’s investment in the US was facilitated by the excellent work and collaboration of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the City of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation, Select Greater Philadelphia and UK Trade and Investment.
