Mark Group Sponsors PGA Midland Open

With the sun shining and TV cameras capturing the action for Sky Sports, Birstall Golf Club in Leicestershire was the setting for the PGA Midland Open last week (5th and 6th August), sponsored by Mark Group.

The Midland Open is one of the jewels in the crown of the PGA Midland Region and Birstall Pro, David Clark was responsible for securing its fixture at the Leicestershire club. This year’s event was attended by Birstall Junior Champion, Jack Merry and Birstall Junior Captain, Patrick Marsden – both of whom are supported by the energy-saving specialist, and capable of giving some of the seasoned professionals a run for their money.

Mark Group is well known for its support of Leicester Tigers’ Community Rugby Programme, but is also the region’s biggest supporter of grass roots professional golf. And, the results seen at this year’s tournament – a closely fought battle between winner Simon Lilly of Wellingborough Golf Club and Kibworth Golf Club’s, Matthew Cort, were certainly enough to drive the aspirations of young golfing talent.

“Birstall is just a stone’s throw from our head office at Beaumont Leys and we have supported the Golf Club for many years. It was a pleasure to see Jack Merry and Patrick Marsden play as part of the Midland Open and we hope to see them competing on this circuit in years to come.”
