Leicester City Council has invited Bill Rumble, of international energy saving specialist, Mark Group to join the line up of speakers taking part in a programme of events for Climate Week (21st – 27th March 2011).

Mr Rumble, Group Commercial Director of the Beaumont Leys-based business will be one of six speakers at the ‘Growing the Low Carbon Economy’ event, being held at Leicester’s De Montfort Hall on Wednesday 23rd March – and one of series of events being coordinated by Climate East Midlands.

Sharing his experiences of the business opportunities presented by a low carbon economy, Bill will explain how Mark Group has achieved success off the back of the development of the green sector – as well as talking about the need to innovate and look beyond the UK for business growth.

Commenting, Bill said: “The green economy is growing. We see evidence of this everyday in the stance taken by Government, the messages that are communicated by utility companies and gradually, in the attitudes of the consumer.

“Mark Group is an energy saving business which has been born and bred in Leicester. We started by insulating homes back in the 1970s and now have 20 worldwide locations, operating out of the UK, US and Australia. We have launched innovations such as HeatSeekers thermal imaging and are thoroughly embracing the renewable technologies market.”

Thousands of businesses, charities, schools and councils will run events during Climate Week, showing what can be achieved, share ideas and encourage thousands more to act during the rest of the year.

Bill added: “The programme of events being organised in Leicester for Climate Week is great to see. Climate Week is a national event this is an opportunity to shout about green success stories and inspire others to think about changes they could make.”

The ‘Growing the Low Carbon Economy’ event will also provide information on the Government’s ‘Green Deal for Business’ and Leicester’s new climate change strategic planning document. To book a seat visit http://bookwhen.com/cem-events
