Market leaders join forces to transform how consumers use energy within the home
Wednesday 22 October 2008
In a drive to transform the way energy is used within the home, two energy saving companies have joined forces to promote the benefits and increase the accessibility of solar thermal technology among the UK’s home owning public.
VELUX, which entered the sustainability sector last year will work with the Mark Group, the UK’s largest installer of energy saving measures, which provides its customers with expert advice and guidance on improving energy efficiency within their home. The Mark Group – which will be among the exhibitors at Grand Designs Live 2008 – has added the VELUX Solar Hot Water System to its portfolio of energy saving products and its installers are now fully trained in installing the VELUX system.
Kevin Brennan, Head of Sustainability, VELUX, comments:
“At a time of ever rising fuel costs, in conjunction with an increasingly eco conscious public, the potential for solar thermal technologies is immense. Installing something as simple as our Solar Hot Water System can significantly reduce a home’s energy consumption and its fuel bills, at a relatively low cost.
“While our Solar Hot Water System is already available to the consumer market, the Mark Group’s installation expertise and national coverage is raising consumer awareness and making our product more accessible to homeowners across the country.”
The VELUX Solar Hot Water System uses solar collectors on a home’s roof to capture energy produced by the sun, which it then uses to provide up to 70% of a home’s hot water requirements. On average, a domestic system can reduce a home’s carbon emissions by up to 0.75 tonnes a year.
Bill Rumble, Commercial Director, Mark Group, adds:
“We are delighted to partner with VELUX and believe the quality of the product and the strength of their brand, combined with our installation expertise, has the potential to transform the Solar Hot Water market.”
VELUX and the Mark Group have also produced a market facing information leaflet, highlighting the benefits of solar thermal technology, product specifics and its role in reducing both carbon emissions and fuel bills.
