New Year Resolution Tips from Energy Saving Firm
Tuesday 03 January 2012
Leading energy saving company, Mark Group is encouraging homeowners across the UK to add energy saving resolutions to their New Year list in a bid to cut household bills and look after for the environment in 2012.
A staggering 73% of British adults said they intended to make a New Year’s resolution in 2011* and for many getting in shape, eating more healthily and stopping smoking are common favourites. However, with the prospect of saving around £310** on annual energy bills through having home insulation installed, living a more energy efficient lifestyle could be a resolution worth considering.
Richard Burgess, Service Delivery Manager for Mark Group’s Leicester depot, said: “Personally, I have vowed to get fit this year, which I know will be a huge challenge but committing to saving energy can be really easy to do. At Mark Group we encourage people to ‘use less, lose less and generate more’. That means simple things like switching off lights when not in use and turning your home thermostat down a notch, then comes the insulation which we of course can install, and finally installing renewable energy technologies, like solar PV.”
It is estimated that around 8 million properties across the UK could still benefit from cavity wall or loft insulation which, costing from £100**, or even free of charge to those who meet qualifying criteria, could make it a very attractive resolution for the New Year.
“As a business we install insulation into over 7,000 homes every week and have seen our business steadily increase as homeowners become more aware of the benefits of saving energy. Insulating a loft only takes an hour or two and unlike the hard work required for many other New Year resolutions, the enjoyment of a warmer, more comfortable home can be felt immediately.”
Mark Group installs a range of home insulation and renewable technology options to suit different building types. For further energy saving tips visit www.energysavingtrust.org.uk
