Horace & Peggy Issitt
January 2008
Horace & Peggy Issitt, a retired couple from Leicester, were one of Mark Groups first customers to benefit from our FREE Cavity Wall and Loft Insulation scheme for those aged 70 and over.
With the current rising energy prices causing concern, especially for pensioners, the Issitt’s contacted the Mark Group to find out what measures could be taken to save money and energy in the home.
The Challenge
In order to give the best advice to Horace & Peggy, a Technical Sales Advisor visited their property and conducted a thorough survey to identify what measures they could take to help reduce their energy bills.
The Solution
On completion of the survey, Mark Group were able to identify that the Issitt’s property did had a cavity wall. Most modern homes are generally constructed of two masonry walls with at least a 50mm air gap or ‘cavity’ in between them. We could, therefore, insulate the gap, which in turn would reduce the amount of heat lost through the walls.
During the loft survey, we found a small amount of existing insulation; however, as the current recommended depth is 270mm (11 inches) Mark Group was able to add a further layer of insulation, on top of the existing layers, which would help to reduce the amount of heat lost through the roof.
Horace & Peggy were delighted to discover they were entitled to both free cavity wall insulation and a loft top up, so after completing the paperwork with Horace & Peggy, an installation date was scheduled.
Completion of their cavity wall and loft insulation works took just over half a day to complete, and Horace & Peggy are now benefiting from the lower energy bills they hoped for.
