Jill Hughes
February 2010
Jill Hughes’ home in Sutton Coldfield was the subject of ITV’s Tonight show on Thursday 25th February 2010. Living in a typical four bedroom detached property in West Midlands’ suburbia, Jill found herself having to constantly turn up the thermostat and layer on woolly jumpers in a bid to keep warm.
The Challenge
The house was fairly modern, built in the mid 1980s, but unbeknown to Jill heat was escaping by the truckload through the walls and loft. Why? Because her home was poorly insulated.
The Solution
As part of the programme, the Mark Group came to the rescue by laying a thick new layer of insulation in the loft, up to current Government standards, and filled the cavity within the external walls with a special cotton wool-like glass fibre. You could say they wrapped the whole house in a big cosy blanket.
The Benefits
The results were incredible. Not only will Jill now save around £265* per year on her heating bills, but thanks to thermal imaging technology, Jill was able to see straight away on the programme, how much heat her house is now keeping inside.
