The Customer
Lambeth is one of 14 local authorities which make up Inner London. It is one of the most densely populated boroughs, with a population of around 270,000.
The Challenge
Lambeth Council wanted to improve the energy efficiency of the 34,000 properties in its housing stock. It had a budget of £500,000 to spend over two years and approached Mark Group to help it find a suitable solution.
The Solution
Mark Group started work by carrying out technical surveys of selected properties within Lambeth Council’s housing portfolio, assessing suitability for cavity wall insulation. Around 500 properties were surveyed every week, on an estate by estate basis, then within nine months, insulation had been installed in a staggering 9,000 properties.
Following this strong start, Mark Group went on to survey and install cavity wall insulation in the remaining suitable properties.
The Customer’s View
“In the preparation and execution of a project of this size, Mark Group worked closely with the Housing Property Services Department, identifying and creating a programme to enable efficient use of resources and expenditure to ensure maximum benefit to us as a client.
“The properties identified for insulation will have increased SAP ratings and are expected to make savings on their energy bills of around £100 a year.”
Ian Phillips, Senior Programme Manager, Lambeth Council
